The Ground They Woke To

Everything below stays inside what you've read. Raise the reveal above to go deeper.

A grounded ring, not a ship

The survivors do not live in a vessel so much as inside one — a great circular structure come down whole, its decks curving away into the dark. Life gathers in the hollow at its centre: the camp, the fires, the rationed light. The systems that keep them breathing are failing one by one, and every repair is bought with something.

The forest, the ravine, the stillness

Beyond the hull the ground is wrong in ways no one can name. A forest grows fast enough to remap itself between visits. A ravine runs through the rock carved with symbols no hand among them made. And there are pockets where the air simply holds — a stillness the body notices before the mind does. The survivors learn these rules the only way on offer: by paying for them.

The Watchers

At the edge of the trees, shapes. Not many. They do not rush and they do not speak. The dread of them is in their stillness and their number — and in the certainty, growing night by night, that the watching runs both ways.

The Wave Book Two

What had only been rumored has a shape now, and a name. It comes, and the world the survivors thought they understood is not the world at all. And out of the dark the shelter had long given up for lost, a figure returns — changed, and carrying questions that reach further down than the surface ever suggested.

The truth is sealedFinish Book Three to read it.

Far below, and who was watching Book Three

Beneath everything runs the deep — and in the deep, the machine that was always running. The watchers at the treeline had names and a people of their own: the Luminari, and the two girls who first came close. The whole truth arrives at last, and it saves no one. What can still be carried forward is not a rescue but an inheritance — the whole terrible truth, the whole terrible cost, and the will to bear them into whatever comes.

Inheritance, not rescue

The trilogy does not end in restoration. It ends in what the survivors choose to carry.
